I teach industrial archaeology and heritage. My research interests, in a broad sense, include all the branches of the archaeology of the Contemporary Age, although my speciality is the archaeology and heritage of industrialisation. I have worked with the archaeology of modern mining and metallurgy in Spain, railways in Brazil, industrial heritage studies in Europe and Latin-America, and industrial museums in China, among other topics, mostly trying to define industrialisation as a globalisation process. My current main research interest is the materiality of the international links of Chinese early industrialisation.
